Back to school

Tomorrow is the first day of school. I hate to see another summer come and go. We've had so much fun this year. The weather has felt fall-like for the past week, so it at least feels a little like back-to-school time. Cam has his first football scrimmage tomorrow night, and Delaney has her first soccer practice, so we go into full swing right away.

BRAG ALERT! BRAG ALERT! BRAG ALERT!
We went to open house at school last night, and the principal told us Cam "blew away" the MEA test and was one of only three in the whole school who scored "Exceeds the Standards," and on another test he tested at an 11th grade math level as a 7th grader.

First-day-of-school pics will get posted tomorrow!

Rangeley Vacation

We're back from Rangeley. We had a blast fishing, boating, tubing, canoeing, paddleboating, hiking, and sightseeing. Not much swimming because it was a little cold. We hiked Angel Falls and Cascade Stream Gorge, went looking for moose, drove to Height of the Land, showed the kids where Dead River (where their great-grandparents lived) was flooded to make Flagstaff Lake and visited their gravesites and the Dead River Historical Society, read and relaxed on the dock, made s'mores, and watched Baxter chase ducks and retrieve sticks from the lake.
Our wildlife sightings:
2 moose
2 deer
2 great blue herons
2 pileated woodpeckers
bald eagle
osprey
kingfisher
lots and lots of ducks, geese, and loons

Vacation time

We're off to Rangeley today. Back in a week. Baxter shows us the proper way to relax.

On top of New England

The kids went off to have fun without us again this week. They went camping for three days. Chris and I decided to take a ride and go to the top of Mt. Washington one day.

Happy 13th Birthday Cam

Cam turned 13 on August 7. Oh, how we love that kid!
