Happy New Year!

I did it! I posted every single day in 2008! I think that's the first time I've ever followed through on a New Year's resolution. It's been fun--I think I'll try it again in 2009.

Delaney in some of her Christmas gear: a Twilight t-shirt from Santa, a new hoodie from Nana, and a necklace (from a boy!) She's playing one of her new games from Santa on the DS.
Another shot with my fisheye lens. I've never been able to get a straight-on shot of my whole Christmas tree. I have to stand in a doorway to get the whole thing in with my other lenses, so all my photos of the tree were at an angle.
And one of my favorite photos of 2008, taken back on January 1. Chris always tosses the Christmas tree out the front door. I snapped this one before he dragged it away. I like the way it says goodbye to another Christmas season.

A fisheye view

Santa brought me a new fisheye lens for Christmas. I've never been able to get such a wide view. This was shot out my front door:

A little wider even:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KASPER!!

2008 ornaments

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is that every year my mom finds us each an ornament that fits us just right. :-) Here are this year's:

I want to wish Eleanor a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We're off to Kingfield today for our Woodford family Christmas.

Christmas craft

Now that these have been gifted, I can show one of these little crafts I made. I got the idea from one of my photo-of-the-day friends. I took an artist's canvas, painted the edges with acrylic paint, cut strips of scrapbooking paper, mod-podged the paper to the canvas, and added embellishments (I used acrylic paint on the chipboard tree). Simple and fun to make.

More ornaments

I sure love my ornaments. Here are yet more.
Mom gave Chris a kayaking life jacket last year and this was his clue attached to the package. I thought she did it because he had sunk his kayak.

We bought this one on vacation in Arizona in 2007. When we got home, I noticed on the tag that it was made here in Maine. :-D

I love the way the light is hitting the boot in this shot.
Delaney picked this one out when she was little. Last year when she unwrapped it she realized how ugly it is. (My baby's growing up!)
The train matches my Winterberry Christmas dishes.

Our angel was lost for several years but turned up again last year.

And the stockings were hung...

Our new stocking hanger. I like this so much better than hooking them on the stairs or windowsill, which are short.

Both of my spawn

I know they're big, but they're still my cute babies.

Ice Ice Baby

Some shots from the aftermath of the ice storm on Thursday/Friday.
Backyard:
Street:
A shot of how thick the ice was. It warmed up quickly, and you can see where it had started to melt and was about to fall off the branch:
I liked the way that as it warmed up, shards of ice would come falling down from the trees, sounding like breaking glass:
I thought these branches looked like a tangle of wires ( like behind my computer):When the blue sky and sunshine returns it's like a crystal village.
