Pumpking carving day

I've been trying to post these photos for a week, but Blogger has been "a butt" as Delaney would say. From the annual Woodford pumpkin-carving day last weekend:

First Concert

Mom, my friend Colleen, and I took Delaney, Marissa, and Jessie (the three amigas in the soccer picture a few posts back) to their first concert a couple of weeks ago: American Idols Live. It was cheesetastic! The girls had a blast! I made fun of the people there who didn't bring a kid with them. C'mon, people, you should at least have a "beard."

No pictures of the concert, but here's one of Delaney the bleary-eyed next morning:

"How I spent two entire weeks in September"

Anyone who is a stay-at-home mom has been asked, "What do you do all day?" Anyone who knows me knows the answer is NOT "clean the house." In September, I spent WAAAY too much time raising monarch butterflies and taking about a zillion pictures of them. Along the way I managed to get a picture or two of each stage of metamorphosis. Yes, I'm a dork. But it made me happy.

Caterpillars eating milkweed (it's just like The Very Hungy Caterpillar!):

When they're getting ready to become a chrysalis they form a "J" shape:

A complete chrysalis:

One to two weeks later the chrysalis is no longer green and hard.

The butterfly is almost ready to emerge:

Birth Day. With a pop, the butterfly breaks out of the chrysalis. The fluid that is filling its body will be pumped to the wings over the next couple of hours:

The butterfly hangs out for awhile to dry its wings:
