We attended a funeral for a friend today who died unexpectedly on Saturday. Don was Chris's buddy, mentor, and one-time work partner. He was the guy who interviewed Chris when he was a senior at UMaine and got him hired with Upjohn. He mentored Chris through his first few years, and they worked together as partners sharing a territory at one time. I remember about a year ago, Chris and I were talking about our lives and careers and he remarked that the happiest time in his career was when he was partnered with Don. Don retired a few years ago, and he and Chris continued to keep in touch, with Don always lending an ear and giving Chris good advice and always, always a good laugh.
"Do not let your grief be measured by his worth, for then your sorrow has no end."--Shakespeare
According to the program for today's service, this quote was found hand-written on the back of a business card in Don's office. Don was a man of great worth and will be terribly missed.
