I was shocked to see it snowing when I woke up yesterday morning. Then I was shocked to be shocked, since it's March in Maine after all. We had just had such beautiful spring weather, and my crocuses and tulips are coming up, and my little friends are easier to spot on our stone wall:

A sign of spring

The other day when I was outside I looked over at the lilac bushes and said to myself, "Are those BUDS?"

Yup! Spring is springing early around here.

Cool Beans

When I saw this bag of beans in the grocery store, my first thought was not "I'm going to make a delicious soup." It was more "Ooh, I want to take macro photos of these. I love the colors. They would go so well in my kitchen. Wow, those speckled beans look like cappuccino-flavored Jelly Bellys. I love Jelly Bellys. Especially pear. And margarita. I love margaritas too. Maybe we can go out for Mexican and margaritas tonight....."

Anyway, here's one of the photos.

And I actually am trying to make a delicious soup. It's on the stove right now. The beans are taking for-freakin-ever. The soup is tasty, yet still crunchy. We should be able to eat it by....Saturday. Now I remember why I use canned beans.

My boring day

Let's see...what have I done today? I made an eye appointment for Delaney and scheduled my mammogram. (That's right; I referenced my boobs. Save the tatas!) I matted some photos for my next vendor fair on March 27. I continued to ignore the laundry. I checked my swap status on Goodreads and mailed out a requested book (I love that!). Oh, and with so much snow melted, I headed out to the yard with my trusty pooper scooper. It was Poop City out there. Poopenhagen! Poopageddon! Poopstock! Poopapalooza!

Aren't you glad I've decided to share all the details of my boring little life? I won't make you look at a photo of my yard today (although it looks better than it did an hour ago), so here's one from a couple of weeks ago, just after our most recent snow.

Neglect

I've been neglecting my blog. I've been in a photography funk and just haven't been taking many photos at all. So I suppose I could just....write on the blog without posting a photo. But do you really want to hear how I had a bagel for breakfast and watched an episode of Real Housewives of New York City instead of doing laundry like I should have and how I'm going to the grocery store later and then Delaney's track meet? I don't know, but that's what you're getting. :-)

A new 'skill'

Phoebe sleeps in a crate in our room. When I bring her upstairs for the night, I let her wander around the room while I brush my teeth and wash my face. I came out of the bathroom the other night and saw this:
The bed was like the final frontier for her. It's pretty high, and she previously was unable to make the leap, literally and figuratively. I still made her sleep in her crate, though.

In other news, I got my taxes done. Baxter celebrated with me:
